Connected apps let OS3 use other services you rely on — such as GitHub, Notion, Linear or Airtable — directly, rather than through the screen. Each connected app runs on a computer you have connected with rabbit agent, and you sign in to it there, so your sign-in for that app stays on your machine.
Connected apps are in beta.
before you start
You need at least one computer connected to OS3. If you have not connected one yet, see how to connect a computer with rabbit agent. The computer has to be on and connected whenever OS3 uses an app on it.
how to connect an app
- In OS3, open settings → connected apps.
- If you have more than one computer, choose the computer the app should run on.
- Under add an app, browse the list by category or search for the app.
- Choose connect, then sign in to the app when asked. Some apps ask for a key instead of a sign-in; the app's line says what it needs.
The app then appears under your apps, and OS3 can use it in your conversations. OS3 can also suggest connecting an app in conversation when a task needs one.
adding an app that is not listed
Use add your own, give the app a name, then choose how it runs:
- at an address — if a service offers a connection address for AI assistants, enter it. The address must start with https://. Under sign in, choose sign-in page if the service asks you to sign in, or api key to give it a key instead; the key is kept on your computer.
- on this computer — for a program you run yourself, enter the command that starts it on the chosen computer. It takes no sign-in.
Then choose add app.
managing connected apps
Each app under your apps shows where it runs and its state. You can:
- Choose sign in if its sign-in has expired, or set key for an app that uses a key. The key is kept on your computer.
- Open options to switch the app off with turned on and back on later, or to remove it. Removing an app deletes its address, sign-in and key from that computer, and cannot be undone.
connected apps or DLAM?
A connected app talks to the service directly, which is faster and more reliable. When a task can only be done through an application's screen, OS3 can use DLAM instead, with your permission.
common questions
does rabbit see my sign-in for a connected app?
The app runs on your computer and you sign in to it there, so its sign-in and any key you set are kept on that computer.
why can I not see any apps to add?
Connected apps need a computer to run on. Connect one first, and make sure it is online.
can I control when OS3 uses an app?
Yes. settings → permissions is where you decide when OS3 checks with you before acting for you. You can also switch an app off under its options in settings → connected apps.
