Your rabbit r1 can connect to the internet through Wi-Fi, cellular data, or a mobile hot spot. Installing a SIM card allows you to use your r1 when travelling, out on the town, or otherwise away from Wi-Fi.

How to install a SIM card in your rabbit r1
Use the following instructions or watch the video below to install a nano-SIM card in your r1.
- Locate the SIM card slot next to the USB-C charging port
- Use your fingernail, or a small tool like a guitar pick, to remove the SIM card tray
- Place your SIM card in the tray, with the metal side facing up towards the screen
- Put the tray back in your r1 and make sure it is fully inserted
Warning: The tray is not reversible, there is only one way it fits. Do not force the SIM card tray back in your r1. You may break the tray if you force it in the wrong way.
How to enable cellular data on on your rabbit r1
Use the following steps to enable mobile data on your r1.
- Gently shake your r1 twice to open settings
- Select network
- Toggle cellular on
- Navigate through the settings back to home
- Your r1 will recognize the SIM card after about 15 seconds
Tip: If you are using a SIM card and connected to Wi-Fi at the same time, your r1 will default to using Wi-Fi.
What SIM cards are supported on rabbit r1?
Your r1 is compatible with most major carriers that offer a nano-SIM card, but it is unlikely to work with the following types of SIM cards.
- SIM cards from Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO)
- SIM cards bound to specific devices
- SIM cards limited to a particular region
Note: eSim cards are not supported.
What mobile data providers work with rabbit r1?
Your r1 supports up to 4G LTE data-only cell service and is compatible with most major mobile data providers. 2G and 3G service can be used when 4G LTE is not available.
