Today, AI startup rabbit, a pioneer in delivering new consumer-level AI experiences at scale, released rabbitOS 2, the second generation of the company's AI-centric operating system for the rabbit r1 AI companion device. rabbitOS 2 introduces a revamped user experience for r1, with a fresh, colorful card-based design and brand new AI agentic capabilities with creations, which allows users to build tools, games, and other experiences directly on r1 by simply talking to the device.
"Our vision when we launched r1 was to build a brand new experience where you can just talk to AI and it will understand you and do things for you. After launch, we realized there was a big gap between the high expectations of our users and the original software experience we delivered. So we decided to completely revamp the software and redesign the entire r1 experience," said rabbit founder and CEO Jesse Lyu.
"rabbitOS 2 transforms rabbit r1 into a platform for people to create their own experiences with the power of AI. With rabbitOS 2, creations, and more than 30 OTAs over the past 16 months, r1 is a completely new device."

Card-based design language brings a touch of magic and familiarity to r1

With rabbitOS 2, rabbit set out to redesign the entire r1 interface, upgrade the existing functions, and address feedback shared by users. The new OS offers three main benefits:
- It feels more familiar, with additional gesture functionality added to the touch screen.
- It's more accessible, with a new card-based interface that makes it easier to see and access r1's functions and features.
- With a new UI design inspired by a deck of colorful playing cards, the r1 experience is more playful, tactile, and engaging.
The card-based design of rabbitOS 2 leverages the familiar concept of a deck of playing cards that most users intuitively understand. Each main device feature has its own card in the stack, allowing users to easily browse and access them by swiping on the screen or using the scroll wheel, reminiscent of flipping through a Rolodex. These updates make it easier for people to understand the capabilities of the r1 from the first time they pick up the device.
creations – software imagined by users, built by AI agents directly on device
rabbit's newest agentic AI development, creations, gives users the power to build new software tools, games, and other experiences on their device through real-time conversations with rabbit's AI agent. In a matter of minutes, the creation will appear directly on the user's device and will be ready to use right away.
With magic interface, magic voice, and now creations, rabbit r1 is the first device ever that lets users generate their own interface, voice, and software on device by speaking to an AI agent. Inspired by the rise in vibe coding, creations makes it easier for all r1 users, regardless of their technical skills, to create anything they can imagine on their device. As more creations become available to more users, this also marks a step towards a new form of the app store.
creations is powered by rabbit intern, an all-purpose general AI agent that rabbit officially released in June. r1 users can use intern tasks to make their own on-device creations, or they can visit rabbit.tech/creations and choose from a growing list of existing creations to install on their r1 for free.
